The client and their challenge
Texas Ranked covers Houston wrestling the way the sport deserves. Regional boards from 5A to the Valley. Athlete intel on 1,240 wrestlers. Stories on the kids winning state titles before the state notices.
They needed more than a blog. Sports website design here means a living scoreboard: rankings that update on a schedule, profiles a recruiter can use, and a brand strong enough to start arguments in the bleachers.
How we approached the sports website design
We dressed it like a champion. Jet black, championship gold, and a star-studded badge, carried from the logo through every board, card, and button. The site reads like a title belt looks.
Then we built the machine. Five regional boards live in the Webflow CMS: 5A Texas, 6A Texas, Houston, Austin to the Valley, and Dallas-Fort Worth. Every board filters by weight class from 106 to 285, searches by name, and shows its own scoreboard: last updated, next drop, athletes tracked. Rankings ship every two weeks, and the site says so out loud.
Ranked+ membership gates the full boards through Memberstack. The Big Board turns rankings into recruiting profiles with accomplishments and club history. And an articles hub carries previews, breakdowns, athlete profiles, and analysis with a magazine feel.
The result
Texas Ranked now looks like the authority it set out to be. Call it sports web design or sports team website design if you like, the job is the same. Track the athletes. Publish the proof. Keep score in public.
The talent was always on the mat. Now it is on the record.
Problem
Big wins in packed gyms, and no scoreboard online
Houston wrestling was bigger than its coverage. Breakout athletes rose between tournaments, season-defining matchups vanished without context, and the community had no home to argue the rankings. Word of mouth cannot carry a sport.
